1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Simon Joliveau (“we”, “us”) handles information in relation to the Marey application for macOS (the “App”) and this website (the “Website”).

2. The App: no data collection
Marey is designed to work entirely offline, on your own device. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell or share any personal data through the App.
- Your photos stay on your Mac. All processing — including AI scoring, automatic grouping, culling suggestions and editing — is performed locally on your device. Your photos are never uploaded.
- Your library stays on your Mac. Your catalog, ratings, picks, rejections, edits and preferences are stored locally on your device and are never sent to us.
- Your taste stays on your Mac. The scoring system that learns from your choices does so locally. What it learns is stored on your device and is not shared.
- No account. The App does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information.
- No analytics or tracking. The App contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software, and does not track you across apps or websites.
- No data sent to servers. The App does not send any data to servers operated by us or by third parties. App updates are delivered by the Mac App Store, not by the App itself; any check related to your purchase or to available updates is handled by Apple’s system services (see section 4).
3. Access to your files and photos
To work, Marey needs to read the photos and folders you choose to import, and, if you use the Lightroom features, the Lightroom catalogs or files you select. This access is granted by you through standard macOS permissions, is used solely to provide the App’s features on your device, and can be revoked at any time in macOS System Settings.
When you export photos or ratings — for example to Lightroom or to a folder — the files are written to the location you choose on your device. We have no access to them.
4. Purchases, updates and diagnostics
Marey is distributed through the Mac App Store. Purchases, payments, downloads and updates are handled by Apple, under Apple’s own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details.
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your macOS settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymised information such as crash reports and usage statistics. This information does not identify you, and you can turn it off at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
5. This website
The Website does not use cookies, does not ask you for any personal information and does not contain advertising or tracking.
Hosting. The Website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. When you visit it, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver the Website and protect it against abuse. This processing is governed by Cloudflare’s privacy policy. All fonts and images are served from the Website itself: your browser does not connect to any other third-party service.
If you contact us by email, we use your email address and message only to reply to you, and we do not keep them longer than necessary.
6. Children’s privacy
Marey does not collect any personal data from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Because the App does not collect personal data, we hold no such data about you through the App. All data created by the App remains on your device, and you can delete it at any time by deleting your Marey library or uninstalling the App.

8. Security
Because your data stays on your device, its security depends on the security of your Mac. We recommend keeping macOS up to date and using FileVault and regular backups.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if new features are added to the App. Any change will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the App were ever to process personal data, we would update this policy before that change takes effect.
